Institution overview
Nanyang Technological University is a Singapore university with an academic foundation in science and technology and a wider multidisciplinary portfolio. It became NTU in 1991, following the development of Nanyang Technological Institute from 1981. Its main campus is at Yunnan Garden, with a medical education presence in Novena. The university offers undergraduate degrees, postgraduate coursework and doctoral research. Its academic areas include engineering, computing and data science, natural sciences, business, humanities, arts, social sciences and medicine. The National Institute of Education and the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies are autonomous institutes within the university's organisation. NTU's research environment includes centres working on earth systems, environmental and water research, energy and other technological and social questions. The university connects education with research and industry collaboration, while its campus provides residential, learning and student-service facilities. English is the principal medium across its degree provision. Prospective students can explore the education and admissions portals to distinguish schools, programme levels and application routes, rather than treating the university's full disciplinary range as one common course structure.
