Institution overview
The Institute of Technical Education is a public postsecondary institution under Singapore's Ministry of Education, established in 1992. It operates through three constituent colleges: ITE College Central, ITE College East and ITE College West. Its role includes initial technical education, continuing training and workplace learning. The institution offers Higher Nitec qualifications as well as Work-Study Diplomas and Technical Diplomas. Fields include engineering, electronics and information technology, business and services, design and media, hospitality and health sciences. These qualifications represent different stages of technical education, with diploma entry generally building on relevant prior ITE certification. Practical training is a central feature of the curriculum. Work-Study Diplomas combine employment with structured learning and mentorship, while Technical Diplomas provide full-time applied study developed with partner institutions. Some Technical Diplomas are jointly certified by ITE and the relevant partner. The three colleges organise teaching and facilities for their respective course portfolios.
